Baptist Health Jacksonville to add heart rhythm specialty team to Heart Hospital

Construction is to begin this month on a $17 million facility at Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville‘s Heart Hospital that will house a team specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.

Baptist Heart Hospital, Northeast Florida’s only freestanding hospital for heart and vascular care, offers the region’s “most advanced and comprehensive” program in cardiac electrophysiology, or EP, a subspecialty of cardiology that focuses on the heart’s electrical activity, according to the health system.

Baptist Health provides health screenings at community event

May is stroke awareness month.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla — May is stroke awareness month and the American Heart Association and Baptist Health joined a community event at Vista Landing to provide health screenings Saturday.

“Strokes are the number four killer and a lot of people don’t realize that and something important with strokes is to spot symptoms really quickly. So we’re educating the community on stroke symptoms,” said executive director for the first coast American heart association, Amber Wilson. 

Wilson says they’re teaching the community an important acronym called FAST.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.– Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock reached a huge milestone. The hospital’s Heart Transplant and VAD Institute completed its 300th heart transplant. The first transplant the team performed was on November 10, 1989.
